Support Local Businesses
You can help local businesses weather this crisis by taking action such as the ones highlighted below.
What can I do?
Since the beginning of this pandemic your Greater Shreveport Chamber has worked diligently to provide your business resources during this difficult time. We’re proud to have partnered with the City of Shreveport and Yiftee, a mobile marketing and promotions company serving restaurants, retail and brands, to help put cash in your account NOW for *FREE.
Visit Cardshop318.com to purchase gift cards to support your favorite local business!

IF YOU HAVE RESERVATIONS
- If you have reservations, don’t be a no-show. Restaurants plan for you to be there, and order food and staff accordingly. If you aren’t going to make it, please call ahead and let them know.
SOCIAL CURRENCY
- Spending more time online? Engage with your favorite local businesses — leave a positive Google, Yelp, or Facebook review. Like, follow, comment and engage with them on social media. It’s free to you but it helps to remind businesses that they aren’t forgotten and this kind of social currency pays dividends of a different kind. Now is a fantastic time to deepen relationships with friends and neighbors that operate your favorite local businesses.
ARTS & CULTURE
- Did you have tickets to a show that was cancelled? Many cultural institutions are nonprofits, so instead of asking for a refund, consider making your ticket cost a donation to the organization.
- Also, many performances may be rescheduled in the future, so be sure to check emails and social media posts from that organization for updates.
Our community’s health depends on all of us working together, showing compassion and remaining strong. Our Downtown businesses are the heart and soul of our civic identity and a significant driver of our city’s economy. We at the Partnership ask you to join us in ensuring the success and viability of our locally owned small businesses.
Prepare — but don’t over-stockpile
Having some necessities on hand in your home is something that can help you and others. If you’re quarantined, or if the place where you live asks people to stay home to reduce spread, you and your family will need to have things like food, toiletries, and medications on hand. So, purchase enough nonperishable food for two to three weeks, along with some bottled water in case of a disruption in access, any prescriptions you need, and basic over-the-counter medications. But don't go overboard with stockpiling since that could make it harder for others to meet their needs and especially for low-income people who may not be able to afford to order online or go to lots of different stores.
Help support local business
Many local businesses such as restaurants and food stores will need continued support to survive the changes in behavior brought about by social distancing. Explore continuing to support these businesses by:
- Buying gift cards now that can be used later. This will provide a cash infusion that can carry them over
- Order take-out or delivery to keep your family fed and restaurants in business
- Order groceries for pickup, which will reduce your time in the store, but still enable stores to move product and provide work hours for store employees
